The Opelousas General Health System is ensuring people are knowledgeable about their health as they start the year.
Opelousas General Health staff held their 12th Annual Community Health Fair this morning at their south campus from 8 a.m. – 11 a..m.
Local health care businesses in St. Landry Parish were there, assisting with free screenings, tests and other medical information. The Louisiana State Fire Marshal and the Opelousas Fire Department provided educational demonstrations on fire safety. Opelousas fire also brought their smoke house that teaches children what to do in a house fire. The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries offered information about life jacket safety.
Thanks to St. Landry Chamber of Commerce’s Youth Leadership Council, kids had their own “corner” of activities and educational material to take home.
