Badly decomposed remains discovered lying near a rural road in Texas have been identified as those of a missing Houston woman for whose estranged husband a murder warrant has been issued.

The Navarro County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday confirmed that 29-year-old Charine Wilson’s body was found on Dec. 12 in a ditch near the town of Richland, Texas. Deputies say that an investigation revealed that Wilson was killed as a result of “homicidal violence and multiple gunshot wounds.”

During the course of the investigation, a detective found a social media site that possibly identified the victim as a missing woman out of Houston, which additional evidence and initial autopsy information corroborated, the Sheriff says.

Wilson disappeared after going to the apartment of her estranged husband, Johnny Leon Wilson, 48. who remains at large.

Anyone with information on this case or the whereabouts of Johnny Wilson is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
