The group behind the proposed multibillion-dollar economic plan for the City of Opelousas is continuing its push for that investment. Leaders from Ahart Solutions International made their first presentation to the city council tonight.
In October, the group held a media event with Mayor Reggie Tatum, but they excluded some council members and media outlets. Tuesday night, Haley Ahart Keiffer, president of Ahart Solutions International, said she regrets that decision.
“I just want to apologize to anyone whose feelings felt hurt if they were not there. Our lender needed to speak to a very small amount of individuals. We were trying to keep it very low-key to somewhat,” Ahart said.
Mayor-elect Julius Alsandor issued a statement Monday night about Ahart’s presentation.
“This is the first meeting of any kind with the Ahart group, so it would be premature for the incoming administration to speak or commit to any endeavor that has not been presented to us in its entirety. However, when and if that conversation takes place, we will comment and respond accordingly to the citizens of Opelousas and interested parties,” Alsandor said.
