The Judson Walsh bridge in Opelousas will be closed for at least another year and a half.
DOTD officials say construction bids are scheduled to go out by June of 2019 with construction to begin in the fall of that year.
The bridge is just off I-49 on Judson Walsh Drive. Opelousas High School is located just a few blocks away from the bridge.
Estimated construction time is around 10 months. The bridge failed a routine inspection by the parish government earlier this year finding the bridge was structurally unsound.
