State Police are investigating a crash that left a Krotz Springs man dead this afternoon.

Troopers were called to La. 105 north of US 190 at about 4 p.m. today, a spokesman said. Jason Ryder, 45, died in the crash, police say.

Ryder was driving a pick-up truck south on the highway and for unknown reasons ran off the road on the right side. The truck went into a ditch, overturned and struck a private driveway, then came to rest upside down, troopers say.

Ryder was wearing his seat belt, but was fatally injured, troopers say. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office.

Impairment is unknown at this time, but routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation.
