Eunice Police say they are searching for a suspect who held a driver at gunpoint last week.

Police say that on October 17, 2018, at about 9:00 p.m. hours Eunice Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash at the intersection of East Maple and South MLK Dr.

A vehicle was located but no occupants were inside.  The vehicle according to officers had crashed into a telephone pole.

A phone call from a person identifying himself as the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash who stated that he was at a nearby residence. The driver told police that he was driving his vehicle and stopped at places in town before heading to his residence.  On his way home, an unidentified man appeared in the back seat brandishing a pistol.

The driver stated that the suspect held him at gunpoint and demanded his cell phone and directed him where to drive. He drove several blocks before jumping out of the moving vehicle and hid until he was able to safely contact police.

Evidence located in the vehicle confirms the statements made by the driver.

Police say the suspect is a young man, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and khaki “jogger style” pants. Evidence indicated that the suspect fled the area heading southeast on Maple Ave.
