Melville Police arrested a local woman in connection with a Sunday morning stabbing.

Chief Anthony Moreau said he arrested Kari Ganson, 27, Sunday and booked with aggravated second-degree battery. The victim in the case, a 19-year-old man, is listed in critical condition in an Opelousas hospital, he said.

The incident happened at about 9:20 a.m., the chief said. It started with a fight over an alleged theft, the chief said.

The investigation is continuing, and more arrests may be forthcoming, the chief said.

Ganson’s bond on a previous charge has been revoked, and so she is being held in the St. Landry Parish Prison.
