Here are Sunday morning updates for utility outages in Acadiana in the wake of Hurricane Delta. We will update this story as we receive more information from area utility companies.
COX
"We are making significant progress assessing damage and restoring our network and services to Acadiana customers following Hurricane Delta. Our restoration efforts will largely follow the restoration of power. We have brought in additional crews from across the region to help us with assessments which should be complete today. Once we complete those assessments, we should have a firmer idea of restoration time."
LAFAYETTE UTILITIES SYSTEM
Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) is reporting, as of 1 p.m. on Sunday, 12,458 LUS customers are without power.
"LUS appreciates our customer’s patience in the restoration efforts after the extensive damage of Hurricane Delta. We would like to remind customers to please keep a safe distance from lines crews and tree trimming crews as they work in your area and in roadways."
To report an outage, call (337) 291-9200 or if you see a downed power line or equipment, call (337) 291-5700.
LUS does not have an outage map on its website, as other companies do. However, they apparently do have the technology, because this snapshot was posted on the company's Facebook page yesterday:
Here's a post from LUS about the crews working today:
SLEMCO
As of 9 am today, SLEMCO has 69,400 customers without power. Crews have restored power to 38,600 homes and businesses since Hurricane Delta made landfall last on Friday.
Work for today will again focus on restoring power to SLEMCO’s feeders, or main lines. Once power to all feeders has been restored, workers will move on to line sections and individual locations.
“We know going days without power is not pleasant,” said SLEMCO Spokesperson Mary Laurent. “We sincerely appreciate the patience and support our customers have expressed since Hurricane Delta caused catastrophic damage to our system.”
Hundreds of contract line workers and right-of-way tree trimmers from Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia and Missouri are working together with our own crews to restore power to customers throughout our service area. Additional crews will be arriving later today and tomorrow.
“SLEMCO is known for pushing hard to make sure safe, but significant, progress is made each day to restore power after a storm,” Laurent said. “We cannot thank our contract crews enough for stepping-up to join our own field personnel in what is often grueling work in very poor conditions.”
SLEMCO provides electric power to 109,000 customers in Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion Parish. To see their outage map, click here.
Cleco
As of 3 p.m. today, Cleco had restored power to 81,098, or 61 percent, of the more than 132,000 customers who were left without power due to Hurricane Delta.
The Category 2 Hurricane brought heavy rain and powerful winds.
“On day two, we’re more than halfway there with power restored to 61 percent of our customers,” said James Lass, director of distribution operations and emergency management. “We’ve made really good progress following our storm plan by which we restore power to critical facilities such as water and sewage systems, hospitals and medical facilities and then to the largest number of customers. Crews will continue working to restore power to the remaining customers.”
In addition to Cleco personnel, the company has more than 2,500 contractors dedicated to restoration efforts. Contractors include line mechanics, tree trimmers, transmission resources and damage assessors.
Below are estimated times for restoration (ETR) for towns and cities in some of Cleco’s parishes. More ETRs will be shared, as they become available. Please note that unexpected damage or inclement weather could impact restoration efforts and timelines. Rapides Parish

Here's the latest from the company:
A storm team of 8,200 and growing is on the ground across the state working to assess damage and make repairs to the electrical system caused by Hurricane Delta.
As of 9 a.m. Sunday, more than 50% of all Louisiana customers who can safely accept power have been restored after the first full day of restoration work following Delta’s landfall.
So far, our scout teams have evaluated 55% of the system and found damage to 344 poles, 822 spans of wire and 123 transformers.
Peak outages following Delta saw 320,000 customers without service. As of 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning that number was down to 142,249. Our crews will continue to scout damage and make repairs where it is safe to do so.
