Scott Police are investigating after someone fired a gun on campus after Friday night's Acadiana High School football game.

Chief Chad Leger says no one was injured. He also tells us that the teenager arrested isn't a student at either of the schools that were playing last night, and that neither he nor his gun were ever at the game.

The shooting happened on a road that runs next to the school's practice football field. Police were called to that area around 9:50 p.m. Friday after people heard gunfire. They found some shell casings on the road, and several vehicles that had been hit by gunfire.

They found a juvenile and held him for questioning.

Officers found two handguns which matched the shell casings, and they made sure no one was wounded. When they talked to the teen, he said he and another person were having an argument in the parking lot as people were leaving the game. The teen said that other person pointed a gun at him, so he shot at that person.

Other witnesses didn't see any other person with a gun, the chief says.

The teenager was arrested and booked in to the Lafayette juvenile jail with possession of a gun in a firearm-free zone, illegal discharge of a weapon and three counts aggravated damage to property.

The teen was not in the stadium before, during or after the game, and neither was his gun, the chief says. He says the teenager doesn't attend Acadiana High or Carencro High, the two schools playing the game, but he is a student at a high school in another parish.

The investigation is continuing, Leger said.
