Community Honda Lafayette, formerly Moss Honda, celebrated its Grand Opening on Thursday.

The dealership, owned by the Elswick family, is the fourth dealership in the group, with the other three dealerships located in Texas.

As part of the grand opening, the Elswicks presented a check to Cajun Navy Relief. The Texas dealerships and many Community employees, including the Elswick family, were impacted by Hurricane Harvey in September 2017.

“We had about three feet of water in our home, and the area surrounding our neighborhood had as much as ten feet,” said Roger Elswick. ” We have a two story home, so while we were relatively safe, we had to get out and had no idea how that was going to happen. Then, our prayers were answered: The Cajun Navy showed up. They rescued my family, including our pets, and many others in our neighborhood. I will never be able to completely express my gratitude for what they did, but we will try to make it a little easier for them to help the next victims of a natural disaster they respond to, wherever that might be.

Community Honda is located on Surrey Street in Lafayette.
