The Cajun Heartland State Fair wraps up this weekend.

Festival organizers say the fair has been crowded since it opened.

They attribute it to great weather. They also made changes this year, which increased crowd numbers. Parking is free, and admission is $3. Organizers say with free admission, they’re able to track the crowds better to see how many people are actually coming to the fair, riding the rides and sampling some of the great food.

“We’ve got all the rides ready to go,” said Casey White, Cajundome Marketing Director. “Some great free attractions and some new ones: We have World of Wonders, Texas Tommy’s Wild West Review, the petting zoo, swine races. Tomorrow, we have our southern fried showdown. We’re going to have an additional 10 restaurant vendors out here, doing some crazy fried food. You can come out and purchase those items and vote for your fan favorite.”

The last day of the fair is Sunday.
