Five arrested following narcotics investigation at Lafayette business

The Lafayette Police Department says five people were arrested following a narcotics investigation at a local business.

Officers say the investigation began following complaints about a local business in the 200 block of Jefferson Street. That business was identified by police as the “Spirit Gas Station.”

Police say the operation focused on identifying suspects responsible for the sale or distribution of illegal narcotics within the city limits.

During the operation, police say that several undercover buys were conducted which resulted in the issuing of five arrest warrants for individuals allegedly responsible for distributing illegal narcotics at the business.

One search warrant conducted at a residence in the 200 block of Fifth Street resulted in an additional arrest connected to the investigation.

In total, police say five arrests were made. Those arrests include (photos below):

Nicholas J. Hands:

  • Distribution of Sch. II (crack cocaine)(2-counts)
  • Obstruction of Justice
  • Possession of Sch. I (marijuana)

Calvin Noel III:

  • Possession of Sch. I
  • Possession of Drug Paraphilia

Marcel Kelly:

  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphilia
  • Resisting Arrest

Police say additional arrests may follow.
