The new Northeast Regional Library on Lafayette’s north side could receive $8 million for construction costs.

Tonight, the Lafayette-City Parish council approved an introductory ordinance that would allow $12 million from the library fund to pay for two proposed library projects.

The remaining $4 million would fund expansions at the North Regional Library in Carencro.

The Northeast Regional Library would be the one and only library on the north side.
