Carencro is seeing an influx of new business and residential development.
More than two dozen businesses have opened or are near opening.
Mayor Glenn Brasseaux says over the last year-and-a-half, Carencro has seen an increase in business, not just along the I-49 corridor. A lot of shop owners want to set up shop in Downtown and along University Avenue. The Mayor says there are several key factors making Carencro the place to be.
“We’re getting more calls everyday about people wanting to locate here,” said Brasseaux.
He says developers want to know about ordinances and land-use. Brasseaux believes with SuperOne and WalMart opening, developers are willing to bring other stores and restaurants.
“I think people are seeing the potential of all the traffic from I-49, North University, we’re just north of I-10,” said Brasseaux “There’s a lot of good points.”
Carencro continues to make upgrades to infrastructure to continue supporting commercial and residential development.
The city is in the process of upgrading roads, sewage and its water plant.
Brasseaux said, “We’ve planned so we can expand in the future without having to spend a lot more money on the buildings in the future.”
Dorris Mayer, the owner of Luna, a new Mexican restaurant in Carencro says there’s a lot of competition, but there is nowhere else she would rather be.
“The people here are amazing. The people in Carencro are friendly and they’re our family. That’s what we love to do,” said Mayer.
