Wildlife and Fisheries agents are conducting Operation Dry Water along the Vermilion River.
Agents are checking for safety devices on board, proper boat inspection and drivers operating under the influence.
Boaters are urged to take a boater safety course before getting on the water.
“Even though you’re exempt from it, come take it,” said Cpl. Brandon Fontenot, La. Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries.”You’re always gonna learn something. it’s a pretty tough course. There’s a lot of information. And I’ve had men and women who have been in boats their whole lives, they come and take the course and they tell me at the end, you know, I didn’t know this or I didn’t realize that. It’s a lot of information. It’s a really good course.”
