Dozens of Hispanic families gathered to celebrate Mother’s Day with an outdoor concert at El Ranchito on Cameron Street.

There was live music, food and gifts for all the moms. Kids were seen playing and running around while the mothers got to sit and enjoy the performances.

“What we’re doing here is unifying the community, celebrating Mother’s Day. As you can see, there’s people of all races, colors and we’re celebrating Mother’s Day in a big way,” said one organizer, Gloria Zambrano in her native Spanish tongue.

Radio hosts “Divas por la Libre” and a local Spanish newspaper called “Nosotros” organized the event.

They say it’s a way to keep their traditions alive and celebrate the women who work so hard to raise their children.

“In Mexico City which is where I’m from, everyone comes together on May 10th to celebrate Mother’s Day. So they always do a celebration in this way,” said another organizer, Domas Marcus with the latin radio. “What we wanted to do was keep the traditions that we have in our home countries and here as Hispanic people implement them as well.”
