Lafayette Library amends budget, sets funds for new branch

Posted

the Lafayette Public Library Board amended its budget ahead of Tuesday’s city-parish council rededication vote.

Monday, the library board voted to commit $12 million of its reserve fund for library projects in the northern part of the parish including building a brand new Northeast Regional Branch.

$8 million of the reserve funds would be used to build the new branch. The other $4 million would be used for upgrades and expansion at the Carencro branch.

Over the last few weeks, Councilman Kenneth Boudreaux has called upon the library board to dedicate money to build a new library in the north-eastern part of the parish.
