Treehouses are coming to Moncus Park at the Horse Farm and they will be built by a master.

A post by former Lafayette Mayor-President Joey Durel pegs Pete Nelson, The Treehouse Master, as the man for the job.

In the post, Durel stands with Nelson and his wife Judy.

“Guess who’s going to build the treehouses at Moncus Park? The Tree Master himself, Pete Nelson!” Durel wrote. “That’s how you build a world-class park: by getting the best involved!”

That post can be viewed below.

Wednesday night, Moncus Park confirmed on their Facebook Page that Nelson would be helping to bring the treehouses to the park.

Nelson is known for his creative and stunning treehouses. His work has been featured in a television series on Animal Planet that showcased treehouse builds from start to finish.

Now, Nelson will provide his talents to create treehouses in Moncus Park. Other sources confirm to KATC the partnership between Nelson and Moncus Park.

A private event was held Wednesday under the oaks.

Building plans point to the treehouse being placed in a location called Tree House and Adventure Play area, but its actual location has not been confirmed. More on the plans for Moncus Park can be found here.

Specifics on the building and when construction might start were not immediately available.
