The Lafayette Concert Band, under the direction of Gerald Guilbeaux, presented a free concert today.
The Greatest Show on Earth was the band’s second concert of its 2019 season. It started at 5:00pm at Parc Lafayette, located at the corner of Kaliste Saloom Road and Camellia Blvd. The free concert featured a variety of selections specially selected for this outdoor setting.
“We’ll be recreating musically the environment of the “Big Top” during the golden era of the American Circus,” says director Guilbeaux.
A part of the Lafayette musical community since 1982, the LCB comprises 85 talented woodwind, brass and percussion instrumentalists. Members come together on Tuesday evenings to rehearse from late August through June. They travel from more than fifteen communities surrounding Lafayette where they pursue careers as varied as accounting, education, engineering, computer science, homemaking, banking, medicine, law and retirement.
We’ll have some of the sights and sounds of the concert on KATC TV3 at 10 p.m.
