Today is Palm Sunday for liturgical churches, and it is being celebrated across Acadiana.
At the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, the commemoration of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem was celebrated at 11 a.m. Mass.
In most liturgical churches Palm Sunday is celebrated by the blessing and distribution of palm branches or the branches of other native trees representing the palm branches the crowd scattered in front of Christ as he rode into Jerusalem.
It’s the final Sunday of Lent; next Sunday is Easter.
