First responders in Lafayette are competing against one another in a basketball tournament, and it’s all for a good cause.

The city’s police and fire departments, as well as the sheriff’s office, participate in the tournament.

Proceeds from the 3rd Annual First Responders Basketball Tournament will go to the families of Richard LeBlanc and Mitchell Perrodin. Both men work for the Lafayette Fire Department and were diagnosed with cancer.

The games started this morning at the LCA Sportsplex. Event t-shirts are being sold for $25.
