UPDATE: A Jeanerette and New Iberia man have been identified as the driver and passenger in the police pursuit.
The two people were arrested Wednesday morning following a police pursuit that started in Calcasieu Parish and ended in Lafayette.
According to Troop I spokesman Tpr. Thomas Gossen, the two suspects bailed out of their vehicle in Lafayette and was apprehended. A nearby elementary, J. Wallace James, was placed on lockdown for precautionary reasons. The lockdown will be lifted once the scene is cleared.
