Most see old age as a time of slowing down and living a simple life but one nursing/ retirement home is proving that age is just a number.

Pelican Pointe Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Maurice is garnering quite a bit of attention after a video of residents has gone viral. In the video, a bus of a few Pelican Pointe residents can be seen walking into the Daiquiris shop on Johnson Street and Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Lafayette.

Pelican Pointe is no stranger to letting its residents live life normally or abnormally. Everything from Mardi Gras festivities, to visiting farm animals, to soaring in a plane, Pelican Pointe does it all.

After all the attention, Pelican Pointe posted to their Facebook page with a link to an article saying. “So, a group of really cool consenting adults walk into a bar…and then this happens.”

“To say that we were more than a little bit surprised at all of the interest in our little pitstop is a huge understatement. It’s always been our mission to live life with our residents to the fullest. And the more we do this, the more we recognize how very similar our wants and needs are. Our mission is to dispel the common myths about aging,” Michelle Veillon with Pelican Pointe tells KATC.

Veillon says that this trip is only a snapshot of the fun residents have. She says that some of these residents are no stranger to Maurice City Bar, the tasting room at a local brewery, deep-sea fishing, and more.
