The African American Heritage Foundation is celebrating the heritage of its members with a gala and a parade.

The theme for this year’s event is “Let Freedom Ring: Peace and Unity in the Community,” honoring individuals who have made a difference in culture, education, health care, economics, and politics.

Tonight was the gala, and the parade will be held Sunday, March 17, starting at True Vine Ministries on W Willow Street and ending at Super 1 Foods.

This year’s parade marshal is Rayne native Hercules Granger whose lifework, alongside his mother, is to help the homeless.

The parade honorees are: Madonna Broussard, Natasha Leday, Deborah D. McZeal, Brian Seth Mouton, Kendall Stevenson, Ransom H. Wilkins
