In Lafayette, the men and women of the Lafayette Police Department shared a moment of silence on this Mardi Gras day.
The Departments says the moment of silent prayer was for the safety of everyone gathering for Mardi Gras celebrations.
“We will continue to stay dedicated to the citizens of Lafayette and we hope everyone has a wonderful family filled day,” the department said in a post on Facebook.
