The purchase was finalized at 12:00 am this morning, March 1.

KATC’s Abby Breidenbach was LIVE at Women’s and Children’s for the celebration.

The sale also includes Elaine M. Junca Women’s Imaging Centre, Lafayette Surgicare, The Cancer & Infusion Center and several physician practices and clinics, according to a release from the hospital.

CEO Bryan Lee says that the acquisition is a great day for the community. Along with the name change, Lee says more changes are expected to come in the form of facilities and the addition of 740 team members and 162 physicians.

Women’s and Children’s Hospital will now be known as Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s and Children’s Hospital. CFO Jennifer Clowers says the “cut-over process” started at around 10:30 pm on Thursday night and continued until 12:00 am. All patients at Women’s & Children’s were discharged and then readmitted after the purchase was finalized.

Women’s and Children’s joins Our Lady of Lourdes, Heart Hospital of Lafayette and over 35 clinics and centers in the Acadiana market for the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System. Other upcoming projects include an Emergency Center off of the I-10 corridor set to open Fall 2019 and the creation of the JD Moncus Cancer Center on the Lourdes main campus.

All of the babies born March 1st under the new acquisition will receive a onesie with “First Batch” written on the front. Lee shared that the first baby of the day was Abigail who was born at 12:51 am.

The hospital will be blessed on March 21, 2019.
