The search for a permanent superintendent in for Lafayette Parish schools is not moving forward.
However, at a school board meeting Tuesday, the school board approved to begin looking to appoint an interim superintendent.
The board decided against beginning the search for a permanent superintendent due to the upcoming election of board members this year.
The board will begin advertising for the position on the LPSS website with applications to be collected by April 1, 2019. Those applications must be postmarked by March 20, 2019.
Interim superintendent applicants must be state certified to serve as Superintendent of schools in the State of Louisiana in accordance with state and board policy.
The applicant chosen would be under contract as interim Superintended from May 18, 2019, through June 30, 2020.
