The Lafayette Parish School Board starts two important discussions this week: the annual budget discussion and hiring a new superintendent.

At a special meeting on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., the board will start its annual talks about the budget for the 2019-2020 fiscal year that begins July 1. The board also will discuss the budget at meetings in March and April, with final adoption tentatively scheduled for May 8. As soon as the board approves the proposed budget, it will be available for the public to review for 30 days prior to the final adoption.

The budgets, as proposed by board staff, are all available online now. Just go here: https://www.boarddocs.com/la/lpss/Board.nsf/Public and click on the February 19 meeting. You’ll then be able to click on all the proposed budgets.

Also at a special meeting Tuesday, the board will discuss procedures for finding a new superintendent. The board’s current Superintendent, Don Aguillard, has announced he plans to retire. To read about that announcement, click here.
