Lafayette Courthouse reopens Friday following water leak

UPDATE: Clerk of Court Louis Perret says that the Lafayette Parish Courthouse will be open tomorrow for regular business hours.

The closure Thursday came following a water leak on the second floor of the courthouse building. The closure happened just after 2:00 p.m.

Ceiling tiles were removed and plastic tarps were placed over desks and equipment. Standing water pooled onto the floor.

Internet service and phone lines were down at the courthouse following the leak

The Lafayette Parish Courthouse closed today at 2:30 pm because of a severe water leak, according to Louis Perret, Clerk of Court for Lafayette Parish.

Officials will issue an update later tonight on whether the courthouse will reopen tomorrow.
