The Scott Fire Department is now utilizing an app to improve firefighters’ efficiency and effectiveness when responding to an incident.
The app called Active 911 gives firefighters access to vital information when dispatched.
This information includes:
- A mapping system will detect the firefighter’s location and location of the fire. The app will then provide the quickest route possible, which will save firefighters time and allow them to respond more swiftly.
- The fire department has inputted hydrant location and information for every hydrant within city limits. This will allow firefighters to locate the closest hydrant rather than looking at a map and understand the hydrant’s capabilities.
- The app will also allow firefighters to access information about any hazards in a building to which they’re responding.
The fire department started using the app this month.
