It has been a long four and a half years for businesses and residents along Highway 90 at Albertson Parkway in Broussard.
Beginning in the summer of 2014, crews began working on building an overpass at Albertson Parkway as part of the future I-49 South Project.
A few months ago, crews finished construction on the overpasses and have opened them up to traffic.
Now, they are working on finishing the ramps and completing work on the road under the bridge.
If the weather cooperates, DOTD District Administrator Bill Oliver says construction could be completed by March.
For local businesses along the parkway, construction cannot be completed fast enough.
Many businesses have said that they have seen their sales decrease in half because construction is making it difficult for people to get to their stores.
Oliver says he hopes that once construction is complete, it will make it easier for customers to return to these businesses.
