Lafayette officially kicked the Mardi Gras season with their annual flag raising ceremony Friday morning at city hall.
City officials and members of the Greater Southwest Louisiana Mardi Gras Association and Lafayette Mardi Gras Festival Inc. gathered Friday for the annual Mardi Gras Flag raising ceremony.
The event ushers in the Mardi Gras season which will run until Mardi Gras Day, Tuesday, March 5.
Several other cities are also planning flag raisings in the coming days.
The City of Carencro will hold their annual flag raising ceremony on Sunday, January 6 beginning at 11:30 am at City Hall.
The City of Scott will hold their flag raising ceremony on Monday, January 7 at 12:00 pm at City Hall.
