Back in 2015, Bastian was wanted by the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office for stealing crawfish. He allegedly was spotted by a witness stuffing bags of crawfish into the trunk of his car; he was accused of stealing them off the fisherman’s property. Deputies and wildlife agents spotted him soon after, and he led them on a high-speed chase. Eventually he escaped into some woods near his home.
He also has a criminal record in Lafayette; in 2010 he pleaded guilty to a theft charge after being accused of stealing three weed eaters. He was given a suspended sentence and probation for that charge.
