Lafayette Consolidated Government says that Republic Services will not collect residential garbage or recycling in Lafayette Parish on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25.

Customers who normally have their garbage or recycling picked up on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday will instead receive collection the day after their normal collection day during the week after Christmas.

Friday customers will have their waste collected on Saturday. Those who normally receive collection on Monday will not be affected by the holiday schedule, according to LCG.

Excess garbage, any bagged waste that does not fit in the 96-gallon garbage cart, will be collected on customers’ first service day after Christmas.

LCG says all excess garbage must be bagged in individual bags and must not exceed 35 pounds. Bagged garbage should be placed three feet away from the automated garbage cart.
