Investigators are working to determine what caused a fire at Fezzo’s in Broussard.

The fire happened just after 11:00 pm Sunday, November 25, 2018.

KATC’s Abby Breidenbach tells us the business owners want to waste no time in rebuilding.
from the first sound of the alarm, Fezzo’s restaurant owners feared the worst.

“My heart fell into my toes, we built our dream here. we love serving the community and doing what we do, so it hurts,” said owner Phillip Faul.

Faul and his co-owner, Pat Bordes watched and waited while six fire departments fought through the night to save what they have worked so hard for.

“The fire was in the rear of the structure. heavy fire damage to the rear of the structure and it did spread into the inside of the building,” explained Broussard Fire Chief Justin Denais.

After about three hours, all the hot spots were out. The fire damage, primarily to the back of the building, was uncovered and the owners began to regain hope.

“We had a ton of people here hoping last night, this morning they’re here. It won’t take us long. we’ll be back, ready to go,” Faul said.

The front of the building remains untouched and Faul expects to see guests entering Fezzo’s doors as soon as Wednesday.
