Friday evening, the Diocese of Lafayette will celebrate a mass for those unclaimed people who have died over the past year.

The mass will take place on Friday, November 2, 2018, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Bishop Douglas Deshotel with celebrating the Mass of Christian burial as part of All Souls’ Day.

The Diocese says that the mass is the result of a partnership formed in 2012 between St. John’s Cathedral and Catholic Charities of Acadiana.

Men, women, children, and babies from throughout Lafayette Parish who have died over the past year, and whose bodies have gone unclaimed, will be laid to rest during this special Mass.

“The Mass honors the dignity of human life, acknowledging that no one is ever forgotten in Christ,” The Lafayette Diocese says on their website about the mass.

The public is invited to attend but if you are unable to be there, you can watch the Mass live on our website www.diolaf.org
