Carencro residents will see a $6.89 reduction in the trash collection bill starting December 1, 2018. The City of Carencro is preparing for a new garbage service contractor (Pelican Waste and Debris) to begin distributing new 95-gallon, dark blue trash carts with yellow lids and new 65-gallon yellow recycling carts with dark blue lids before the start of service December 3, 2018.

Details including the new service schedule map can be seen at www.Carencro.org

Transition Schedule:

• November 15, Pelican Waste will begin delivering trash & recycling carts.

• The new carts are NOT to be used with the current provider.

• Wednesday, Nov. 21 – Republic recycling carts will be serviced and picked up.

• Wednesday, Nov. 28 & Thursday, Nov. 29 – Republic trash carts will be serviced and picked up.

• Do not put personally owned trash carts at the road to avoid confusion.

• Monday, Dec. 3 – Pelican begins to service trash & recycling according to service map.

“We are working very hard to get ready for the December start date,” Roddie Matherne, (Pelican Waste’s General Manager), said. “We are committed to making the transition as smooth as possible so we can begin providing the people of the City of Carencro with excellent service. We are honored that they have entrusted us with the contracts for these areas and will work tirelessly to provide excellent service.”

“As each of the new dark blue carts are delivered, we ask that you read the accompanying letter that we leave with it,” Matherne said. “It provides the information you need regarding where to place the cart on your trash collection day. Pelican’s phone number is also provided so residents can call with any questions they may have.” 337-907-6686 Matherne states that all of that information about where to place the cart, how to not overfill it, and other information will be placed inside the delivered dark blue cart. Residents can also follow the Facebook page @PelicanWaste for current updates.

“I want to assure the residents of the City of Carencro that we care about providing them with excellent service. We know they will be good partners with us to achieve this goal. We, the owners and staff, have many decades of experience in trash collection. We are local people. That means we understand that our neighbors, family, friends and business associates live and work here. We know what their needs are because it’s our personal needs too. Pelican cares.”
