Acadiana Animal Aid and Companion Animal Alliance are celebrating their largest transport operation to date.

125 dogs and 66 cats from Lafayette Parish and Baton Rouge were loaded onto a plane this morning at Lafayette Regional Airport.

Wings of Rescue flew the animals to no-kill shelters in the Pacific Northwest where they are expected to quickly be adopted into their forever homes.

“Our transport program allows us to bring these animals to other areas that have already reached no-kill that have space in their shelters to bring in more animals so that we, in turn, have space here to bring in the next animals that need our help,” said Acadiana Animal Aid adoption coordinator Laura Kendrick.

Wings of Rescue in partnership with GreaterGood.org and The Jackson Galaxy Project flew the animals to no-kill shelters in the Pacific Northwest where they are expected to quickly be adopted into their forever homes, a spokeswoman said.
