The City of Lafayette will hold Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, October 20 from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm at Cajun Field. Residents living in Lafayette and unincorporated areas are asked to bring household chemicals and electronics to the event for recycling and proper disposal.

The event will take in traditional chemicals like paint, poison, chemical cleaners, gasoline, and mercury for disposal. In addition to those items, electronic waste will also be accepted.

LCG says that latex paints brought to Waste Day for recycling will be re-blended for use by the Lafayette Habitat for Humanity.

Fluorescent tubes, alkaline batteries, televisions, and CRT monitors will also be accepted.

Those attending should enter Cajun Field at Gate 3 on Congress Street. An ID or proof of parish residency is required to drop off items for recycling or disposal.

For additional information on accepted items and the event visit lafayettela.gov or call the Environmental Quality Division at 291-5637.
