University Hospital & Clinics offered free mammograms to uninsured and underinsured women in Lafayette Parish on Wednesday.
“Pink for a Purpose” Mammogram Day was celebrated to raise awareness and is a call-to-action for women to be proactive about breast health. Parish residents 40 and up were encouraged to attend, with or without a family history of breast cancer.
Women were able to receive a screening if there is a known history of breast cancer in the family.
