(PRESS RELEASE) The Lafayette-based nonprofit Maddie’s Footprints is hosting its ninth annual Footprints Forever 5K Fun Run/Walk at River Ranch Town Square Saturday, October 20.

Maddie’s Footprints was established to support families coping with miscarriages, stillbirths or the loss of an infant. Since 2010, Maddie’s has helped over 1,100 families in Acadiana and contributed more than $650,000 to those families. The nonprofit relies on support from the community to assist even more families every year.

Not only does the fundraiser include a one-mile and 5K fun run/walk, but there are activities for children, music, food, beverages and a remembrance ceremony. There will be a Kids’ Zone, sponsored by Keaty and Gouri Dentistry, with multiple fun jumps and face painters.

Nearly 2,000 people participate in this event to honor and remember babies. Many families of these babies form teams to raise money and will walk or run with friends and other family members. Many individuals and businesses throughout Acadiana also support the cause by volunteering or donating.

The organization is currently seeking sponsors for the event. For information about the levels available, contact Heather Broussard at (337) 573-5574 or email hbroussard@maddiesfootprints.org
Volunteer opportunities are also available and the specific shifts, dates and times can be found on their website. You may also find information on how to register and how to create a team.

Online registration ends on October 16. Registration is $40 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under. You can also register at packet pickup on Oct. 19 in person in the Evangeline Room at City Club or race day, beginning at 7:00 am. There is also a virtual race option for those who are out town but still want to participate in the 5k from wherever they reside.

The one-mile fun run begins at 8:00 a.m. and the 5k walk/run starts at 8:30 a.m. Event-goers can park in the River Ranch parking garage, parking lot behind Romacelli There will also be street parking available.
