A rare guitar stolen from a Lafayette business over the summer is back with its owners tonight.
The Music Rising Gibson Les Paul guitar was found in San Antonio after being taken from the Barczyk Chiropractic Group in July.
The guitar is one of 300 and was made to raise money for New Orleans musicians struggling after Hurricane Katrina.
A Texas musician saw the instrument in a private seller’s apartment, found an article about it being missing, and drove 700 miles to return it.
“It renewed faith, to me, in humankind. And that’s what matters most to me is that someone took the time and energy to not only make the phone call and do the right thing but now he’s brought it back to me,” said Colleen Barczyk, owner of the guitar. “The guitar is magical in itself, but the real magic is what it’s brought for all of us.”
