LAFAYETTE – Organizers with Project Front Yard are honoring those in the community who volunteer to help make Lafayette Parish beautiful.

An awards ceremony was held this evening at the IBERIABANK Tower Thursday evening to recognize four community members and institutions for various beautification efforts.

Project Front Yard was launched in the parish about five years ago to transform the area’s landscape.

The initiative also aims to bring together members of the community for community projects and celebrate volunteerism.

Project Front Yard coordinator Skyra Rideaux says award ceremonies like tonight’s not only applaud advocates of Project Front Yard but also allows those getting involved the opportunity to network.

“It’s important for us to continue to have these award ceremonies, so people in the community can also know who are those faces, who are those people doing the work, so they can contact them and start getting engaged and involved in doing the work with them,” said Rideaux.
