The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is hosting a suicide prevention walk in Youngsville in November.
To learn more about the walk or if you’d like to get involved, there will be a committee planning meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday at Crepe Bistro in the Parc Lafayette strip mall on Kaliste Saloom Rd.
The Out of the Darkness Acadiana Walk will be on Saturday, November 10. Participants will meet at the Youngsville Sports Complex. The walk will be from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
You may register for the walk that morning from 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. You may also register online. Online registration will close at noon Friday, November 9.
All donations are being accepted until December 31. You may donate here.
The Out of the Darkness Walks aim to raise awareness of suicide and raise funds that allow the AFSP to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
The AFSP is hoping to reduce the annual suicide rate to 20% by 2025.
