City of Scott holds annual Household Hazardous Waste Day

The City of Scott is holding their annual Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, September 15, 2018.

Residents of the city can drop off hazardous waste at the city Maintenance Building located at 118 Lions Club Street from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Residents must provide proof of residency during the collection event in the form of an ID or recent utilities statement.

Items accepted during the household hazardous waste day include:

paints, automobile batteries, motor oil, anitfreeze, household cleaners, household chemicals, pesticides, flammables, corrosives, other hazardous household products and white goods (old appliances, refrigerators, stoves, hot water heaters) electronic waste (computers, monitors, printers, scanners, Palm accessories, power supplies, battery backups, cables, toner/ink cartridges, hard drives, CD-roms, speakers, VCRs, DVD Players, stereo equipment, TVs, game consoles, digital cameras, any audio or video equipment, networking equipment, tape drives, test equipment, fax machines, keyboards, voice/ tape recorders, radios, walkman products, calculators, cellular phones, and phone accessories).

Tires will be accepted but are limited to five per vehicle. No tires over 500 lbs will be accepted.

Items from businesses, farms, or commercial operations will not be accepted.

Officials say that infectious and medical wastes, biological and radioactive materials, compressed gas cylinders, ammunition, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and explosives will not be accepted.
