A Broussard police officer is being recognized for saving his neighbor’s life.
Lieutenant Zac Gerard received the Terry Guilbeau Award from the Broussard Police Department tonight.
The award is bestowed upon a city employee for going above and beyond the call of duty or saving someone’s life.
“I was off duty when one of my neighbors had an allergic reaction. When I got to his house, he was barely breathing, so I administered an EpiPen and continued to care for him until the ambulance arrived.”
The award was named after the late Terry Guilbeau who was a councilman for District 1.
