A sex offender was found to be in violation of his parole by living within 200 feet of an elementary school and a daycare in Duson, according to a spokeswoman with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives discovered Bryan Paul Scully, Jr. had been living in the residence full-time for two weeks, the spokeswoman says.

Prior to the investigation, a parole officer told detectives that Scully, a homeless sex offender, may have moved somewhere in Duson.

Duson Police Chief Kip Judice spoke with someone living at the residence and learned Scully was inside the home.

Scully was arrested today without incident. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center with parole violation, unlawful presence of a sex offender and failure to report a new or additional address.

The arrest was a joint effort among the sheriff’s office, Duson Police Department and Louisiana Probation and Parole.
