The young men of the Northside High School Football team are going to have brand-new jerseys for their home games this fall, thanks to three local groups.

Rochon Cardiology, Doran & Cawthorne Law Firm and the Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity together have donated more than $6,000 worth of home jerseys for the team.

Dr. Brent Rochon said the team was using five-year-old jerseys for home games that didn’t match their away jerseys. Last year, the group donated cleats for the team. This year, the need was for jerseys, Rochon said.

They’re on order now, and will be in before the first home game, he added.

“They should look great,” he said.

The group also is helping the team with a poboy benefit this Saturday. Between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., you can pick up a poboy, chips and a drink for $7 in the front circle of the school, he said.

All proceeds will help the team with transportation and equipment costs for the fall season, he said.

“We believe its important to give back and not just take from the community,” Rochon said. “Everybody needs help sometimes, and it’s a pleasure and a great opportunity for us to give back.”
