Acadiana Family Tree will hold their 3rd annual Literacy Celebration on Thursday, August 9 at Barnes & Noble in Lafayette.
The event, to be held on National Book Lovers Day, is free to the public and will take place from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. There is no need to register for the event.
Activities focused on literacy will be scattered throughout the bookstore. Children will be able to create their own books during the event and then pick out a book to take home. Free literacy kits will also be handed out to those men who attend the event.
Organizers say that the event has been a great way for parents to interact with children with books to encourage early literacy.
