An Elton man has died following a two-vehicle crash in Jeff Davis Parish involving a tractor.
State Police say that just before 1:45 p.m. on April 29, 2019, troopers responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on US Hwy 165 near Atterberry Road in Jefferson Davis Parish about 6 ½ miles north of US Hwy 90.
The crash claimed the life of 78-year-old Eugene E. Kinkelaar of Elton.
An investigation by State Police revealed that a vehicle driven by Kinkelarr and a tractor with a disk plow attachment were both traveling north on US Hwy 165. According to Troopers, for reasons unknown, Kinkelaar struck the rear of the John Deere tractor.
Kinkelaar was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson Davis Parish Coroner’s Office. He was wearing a seat belt.
The Driver of the tractor was treated for minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
